What is your skin type?

There are so many things that can affect our skin such as environment, pregnancy, stress, medication and seasonal changes.    When I freelance for beauty events I always ask the question "what type of skin do you have?"  Most women will tell me dry, oily or combination,  BUT sometimes they do not have any idea what type they really are.  So how do you assess your skin type?

Normal skin should feel have a comfortable feeling.  It will be smooth, even in texture with small pores.  The cheeks would be the driest area but not too much and you may experience a little shine on the forehead, nose and chin.  The water and oil content in your skin is balanced.
Dry/Extra Dry skin feels tight after washing and it generally needs more oil.  The skin may look dry or flaky, rough, and dehydrated.  The pores are small (invisible) and fine lines will show up faster than on other skin types.
Oily skin will be shiny, especially through the T-zone.  You might see large pores and frequent breakouts.  Fine lines are not as visible with this skin type.  Also, oily skin can lack water.  Even though your skin is oily, you still need to hydrate it or else it will produce even more oil.
Combination skin is oily through the T-zone.  It will be dry in the cheek area or can have spot dehydration.  You might see larger pores on the forehead, nose and chin.

So which type are you?  If you can recognize which one you are then you can choose the right cleansing and moisturizing options.  And if you do not have a good skin care regime then I would encourage you to assess you skin and customize the best products that will keep your skin healthy.
Have a beautiful day, Girlfriend!
